Strengthening Local Government Capacity to Develop Education Sector Plans and Budgets (SESP)
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of local governments to develop and implement education sector plans and budgets. It includes activities such as training education officers on SESP, conducting workshops on SESP formulation and planning, and involving thematic taskforces in the development of local government level school education sector plans. The project also supports the sharing and validation of these plans with stakeholders, printing and dissemination, and follow-up meetings to review implementation progress.
Additionally, the project supports the establishment of local government level NFE-NQF mechanisms and committees, conducts workshops on NFE-NQF guidelines, and facilitates regular meetings of these committees. It also provides capacity building workshops to CLC members, NFE-NQF members, and education personnel on certification mechanisms.
Furthermore, the project supports the strengthening of coordination and networking among local government representatives, education stakeholders, and CSOs. It helps the provincial government establish a resource hub for good practices on school performance and supports the formulation and implementation of local level integrated ECD plans (LIEDP). The project also facilitates the formation of ECD committees, conducts orientations on ECD strategies, and supports the formation and orientation of local level education clusters.
Moreover, the project supports the development of local level education disaster preparedness and response plans, conducts orientations on the updated National Child Friendly School Systems, and facilitates local government level reviews and reflections of school self-assessments and SIP implementation. It also supports the formation and orientation of local government level student assessment technical committees (SATC) and provides training to SMC chairpersons/members and headteachers on CSSMP/CEE. Finally, the project conducts HVCA and develops school level DPRP/CSS action plans based on HVCA findings and integrates them with SIP, and supports the formation of School level Disaster Management Committees.
